ESI Group is a pioneer and world-leading provider in Virtual Prototyping that takes into account the physics of materials. ESI Grou[ boasts a unique know-how in Virtual Product Engineering, based on an integrated suite of coherent, industry-oriented applications. Addressing manufacturing industries, Virtual Product Engineering aims to replace physical prototypes by realistically simulating a product’s behavior during testing, to fine-tune fabrication and assembly processes in accordance with desired product performance, and to evaluate the impact on product use under normal or accidental conditions.
ESI Group’s solutions fit into a single collaborative and open environment for End-to-End Virtual Prototyping. These solutions are delivered using the latest technologies, including immersive Virtual Reality, to bring products to life in 3D; helping customers make the right decisions throughout product development. The company employs about 1000 high-level specialists worldwide covering more than 40 countries.
Dr Rajab Said
Dr Rajab Said has a first degree in Civil Engineering and more than 20 years of experience in Computational Modelling. He spent 13 years at the Civil and Computational Engineering Centre (C2EC) in Swansea University, where he obtained his MSc and PhD, and worked as a Senior Research Assistant on a number of research projects funded by the European Commission and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. During this period, Rajab has developed numerical algorithms and software using Parallel Computing technology for applications in the fields of Geometry Repair, Element Quality and Mesh Generation. He also worked on further developments of an Implicit Nonlinear Finite Element Solver so it can simulate the Superplastic Forming process of Titanium sheets for medical prostheses. In his last four years at C2EC, Rajab was appointed as Technical Manager of the Centre of Excellence for Technology and Industrial Collaboration where he delivered and supervised knowledge transfer projects for the benefit of local industry.
For two years after leaving Swansea, Rajab has worked as Business Development Manager for Simpleware Ltd, a spin out company from the University of Exeter, who is specialised in software development of Imaged-Based Mesh Generation. In October 2008, he joined ESI Group, the world leader of Virtual Prototyping software, as Technical Business Development Manager of ESI-UK. He has recently been given an international role in the Group to work on strengthening collaboration with Academic and R&D Institutes worldwide. During his six years with ESI so far, Rajab has been involved in a number of R&D projects – coordinating development of cutting edge applications of Virtual Manufacturing software in Casting, Composites, Sheet Metal Forming and Welding processes.
Rajab has more than 20 publications in technical journals and refereed conferences proceeding; has been an invited speaker to a number of international conferences, visiting lecturer and external examiner in various Post-Graduate and Engineering Doctorate Programmes. Rajab is a member of the European Committee of Superplastic Forming and the Chairman of the Advanced Sheet Metal Forming Committee at the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining in the UK.
