Studentship Information

Funding Information

IMPaCT students are fully funded studentships which include:

  • A full UK/EU fee waiver for 4 years
  • An annual tax free stipend of £14,553 (2017/18)
  • Possibility of additional top up for industry sponsored projects.
  • Generous Research Training Support Grant.

Studentships are open to UK Home / EU applicants who meet the residency criteria which is set out by the Research Council EPSRC.

A limited amount of partial funding is available for exceptional international applicants who are highly qualified and motivated.  Due to the nature of this funding, the CDT would only be able to cover the cost of the Home/EU fees and therefore the applicant would need to either find alternative funding or self-fund the fee difference

Entry Requirements

Applicants will need to have achieved at least a 2:1 degree from an Engineering or Science subject or an equivalent qualification from a recognised overseas institution.

In addition to the academic entry requirements, you will also need to satisfy the English language entry requirements. Further information on English language requirements can be found in the English requirements section below.

English Requirements

If you do require additional English language requirements, you will need to meet these qualifications for your host institution.

An example would be obtaining a score of 6.00 on an IELTS.

Further information on this will be provided by your host institution after you have successfully passed the interview stage.

Residency Requirements

Applicants that are unsure of their fee status may be subject to residency requirements that have been outlined by the Research Council UK. The below statement outlines conditions of funding for applicants that would fall under home students.

Information provided by RCUK:

There are residence requirements for research council funding for postgraduate research. These are based on the Education (Fees and Awards) (England) Regulations 2007 and subsequent amendments. Normally, to be eligible for a full award a student must have no restrictions on how long they can stay in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the studentship (with some further constraint regarding residence for education).

If you are unsure if this applies to you or not further information on residency requirements can be found here Residency Requirements. Alternatively, please use the contact us for any queries you may have regarding this.
